mudapembaharu - The use of green plastic when distributing meat during Idul Adha has become a common practice among Aisyiyah, one of the largest Muslim women's organizations in Indonesia.
The organization (20/06) has been advocating for the use of eco-friendly and reusable materials in their activities including during the annual Islamic festival of sacrifice.
Instead of using traditional materials such as plastic bags Aisyiyah members distribute meat in green plastic bags which are made from biodegradable materials and can be reused multiple times.
The color green was chosen to symbolize environmental sustainability and to promote awareness of the importance of eco-friendly practices.
“Tujuan Green Iduladha ini agar masyarakat terbiasa mengurangi penggunaan plastik dan beralih menggunakan bahan atau peralatan yang tidak sekali pakai. Sehingga tidak terjadi penumpukan sampah anorganik,” said Surria Dwiwahyu as the coordinatos environment at LLHPB PPA.
This initiative has received support from both the Muslim community and the government as it aligns with Indonesia's goal to reduce plastic waste and promote a sustainable environment.
Other organizations and communities have also adopted similar practices including using banana leaves or bamboo baskets instead of plastic when distributing meat during Idul Adha.
Overall the use of green plastic during Idul Adha by Aisyiyah serves as an example of how religious practices and environmental sustainability can be integrated to create a positive impact on society.
